About the park
Susan and Emily Jablon are mosaic artists who run a highly successful mosaic . They built a beautiful installation in downtown Binghamton and have generously made themselves available for DYOP projects. Emily, the daughter of the mother-daughter pair, initiated her own project on a Robinson Street lot that is developing into a more ambitious plan for that area of the city with the help of Tarik Abdelazim, the city of Binghamton’s Director of Planning, Housing, and Community Development and chief liaison the DYOP.
This project had morphed into creating artistic gateway features at selected locations in this area. These gateway elements will help identify and beautify this particular neighborhood. There are many aspects to this project, there are many vacant lots where condemned buildings were demolished. We want to re-purpose the space that fits the needs and desires of this neighborhood. Will the lots turn into parks? Gardens? Performance Space? Art Park? Your ideas will determine that!
We will be hosting a brainstorming party on April 9th, 2011 at the Volunteers of America building at 320 Chenango St. in Binghamton. Please RSVP to the email below or to the City of Binghamton’s Planning Dept. at (607) 772-7028.
Location: Neighborhood of Robinson, Liberty & Frederick Streets in Binghamton, NY
